Hi, I'm Ria Jason.
A mother, educator, and founder of The Little Explorers. On a mission to Spark the Love for Reading and Writing, one child at a time.
Beginning
It started at home,
with a book and a question.
My journey didn't begin in a classroom. It began at home in 2012, 14 years back, with my daughter, a storybook, and a quiet afternoon that would change everything.
I sat with her to read through a chapter. She read it beautifully smoothly, confidently, without a single stumble. I was overjoyed. Proud, even.
Then I asked her to read the very next chapter. And she couldn't read the first word.
That realisation stopped me completely. And it led me to ask the one question that would define everything that came after it.
The question that
changed everything.
After a 10-year career break, I rejoined a school in 2016 and stepped back into the classroom with a fresh perspective.
Later, I joined another school where I was introduced to a completely new reading programme called Jolly Phonics. It was unlike anything I had taught before, and I wanted to understand not just how to teach it, but why it worked.
Then one day, a parent asked me something I couldn't answer:
That single question changed everything. I realised I only knew the syllabus I had been asked to teach. I didn't truly understand the reasoning behind it. That moment sparked a journey of learning, research, and discovery that completely transformed the way I teach children to read.
Question
My Calling
From curiosity
to calling.
I couldn't stop searching for answers. I attended Jolly Phonics workshops, read books, explored different reading methodologies, and asked questions I had never thought to ask before. Every answer led to another question, and every question deepened my understanding of how children learn to read.
With every workshop, every conversation, and every late night spent reading and researching, one thing became clear.
From that moment on, my mission was clear. To Spark the Love for Reading and Writing and help every child become a confident, joyful learner, with no gaps, no shortcuts, and no guesswork.
The birth of
The Little Explorers.
In July 2021, during the height of the pandemic, I started Little Explorers as a small online space to document my teaching journey and share simple reading activities with children.
It all began with just one child. Soon, one family told another. Parents began reaching out, hoping to help their own children become confident readers and writers. What started as one online class gradually grew into a thriving learning community.
Over the next five years, Little Explorers reached families across India through both online and offline sessions. Every child, every family, and every success story strengthened my belief that every child deserves a strong foundation in reading and writing.
Today, Little Explorers is more than a teaching platform. It is a community with one simple mission. To Spark the Love for Reading and Writing, helping children become confident, curious, and lifelong learners.

What I Believe
My Promise
Every child deserves to feel seen, heard, and understood. At Little Explorers, we take the time to build strong foundations, celebrate every small milestone, and help children grow with confidence.
I promise to keep learning, keep asking questions, and keep growing so I can give every child the very best learning experience possible.
This journey began with a question. Today, it continues with a simple mission: to Spark the Love for Reading and Writing, one child at a time.
